Hot Off the Presses – Link to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Proposed “Regulation Crowdfunding”

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally released its long awaited proposed rules for equity Crowdfunding under Title III of the JOBS Act.  Today’s proposed rules comes with a 90-day comment period which start from the date they are printed in the Federal Register.   That means equity Crowdfunding could become a reality by Q1 of 2014.

The SEC was required to publish these proposed rules by December 31, 2012, but were delayed for various reasons, including a change of leadership at the SEC, which is now led by SEC Chair Mary Jo White.

The SEC also announced that FINRA will be publishing its own proposed rules, referred to as the Funding Portal Rules,shortly.
